Day of Service
On Saturday, February 20th from 10-2, the Taylorsville Stake Relief Society will be holding its annual DAY OF SERVICE. Service projects will include projects to help Hartvigsen School, the Homeless Teen Center, the Road home and more. More details to come. But one project we want to do early is a COAT DRIVE (including hats and mittens) for some of the children attending PLYMOUTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. If you could donate a coat (in new or nearly new/clean condition) in the sizes 6-14 and/or hats and gloves, it would be so helpful.
Also, we will be making fleece blankets on February 20th and could use pieces of fleece 2 yds long. JoAnn's has fleece on sale until January 13 for 50% off. Walmart also has fleece selling in that price range.
Donations can be brought Sundays and will be picked up by a committee representative from your ward.
Thanks so much for your kindness,
Shirleen Gardner (801-879-9385)

Special Stake Conference
We have been informed that our Stake will be holding a special Stake Conference on October 25th, 2015 at 10:00 am at our Stake Center. This is not a regularly scheduled Stake Conference. Elder Jeffery R. Holland will be presiding and speaking. We have been instructed not to hold any other meetings that day. This is a wonderful opportunity and we hope everyone will be able to attend.

October Presidency Message
Dear Sisters,
We have been in the Relief Society Presidency for a little over two months now and you probably have noticed some changes. Some of you are wondering why we are sitting in front. We want you to know that it was not our idea. We were asked to sit in front by our stake leaders. We were told that we are to preside over our meeting. We wanted to know more on presiding and found a talk given by President Boyd K. Packer titled,Principles of Leadership (Teachers Manual Religion 180R Conducting Successful Meetings…). We would like to quote some things he said: “Paul told the Corinthians that “all things” were to be done “decently and in order” (see 1 Cor 14:40; emphasis added).”
President Packer: “I will be speaking about what I call the unwritten order of things. My lesson might be entitled “The ordinary things about the church which every member should know.” Although they are very ordinary things, they are nevertheless, very important. I give my first illustration of this unwritten order of things so simple a thing as this: The one who presides in a meeting should sit on the stand and sit close to the one conducting. It is a bit difficult to preside over a meeting from the congregation. The one who presides is responsible for the conduct of the meeting and has the right and the responsibility to receive inspiration and may be prompted to adjust or correct something that goes on in the meeting. That is true whether it be an auxiliary meeting presided by the sisters or any of our meetings.”
As uncomfortable as we feel sitting in the front, we have seen the wisdom in it. We were told by our stake leaders we would be inspired. As we look into your beautiful faces on Sundays, we have been blessed with wisdom and have been inspired. We call it revelation.
So Sisters, let’s work in harmony, goodwill, peace, concord and mutual understanding. Let’s move forward in unity and love.
With Love,
The Morningside Relief Society Presidency

Pictures
Thanks to all of you who participated in the visiting teaching video. We didn’t have much time to put it together and that didn’t give you much time to get the pictures to us.
In the spirit of visiting teaching, we would like to continue collecting photos to share. They are so fun to see. These can be pictures of sister companions, or with the sisters that they visit, performing service or just having a laugh during a visit. Please send your photos to rsmorningside@gmail.com.
Any photos provided will likely "go down in history" since they will be shared with our ward historian, Bobbie Ingram!
