Sister Spotlight - Bobi Whitlock

Hi, I'm Bobi Whitlock.  I grew up in West Jordan and graduated from high school there.  I have one sister and a very small extended family.  I'm a convert to the church and have been a member for 15 years.  I met Quinn at a friends house and we have been married for 13-1/2 years now, and I married into a big family!  We just moved here from a very far distance....Murray!  We lived there for 9+ years.  We have 4 kids, Porter (10), Kade (7), Savana (5) and Adyson (2 in March).  They keep us very busy.  I'm a soccer, dance and piano mom!  I work part time from home for a recruiting company.  I'm able to set my own hours which is great while raising a family.  As a family we love to spend time together.  We like going to movies, playing games, horseback riding, 4 wheeling, jeeping, hiking, swimming and several other activities together.

We are excited about our new chapter in our family moving into the Morningside Ward.  We love the neighborhood and look forward to getting to know everyone!

Taylorsville Food Pantry

Shampoo and Conditioner Donations....

Sisters...Thank you so much for your willingness to donate so generously throughout this year! As part of our activity on December 12th, we will be putting the hygiene kits together. We have received enough of most of the items to make 50 kits! But, we are short lots of shampoo and conditioner. If you are able to donate, please let us know...remember they need to be the 12 oz (or so) size bottles.

Road Home Service Project

If you and your family are looking for a service project to do together in December,  please read the email below from Kelli Parker, the Volunteer Coordinator with THE ROAD HOME.

Holiday Broadcast- The Road Home Holiday Broadcast will be held December 19^th and 20^th at The Road Home Homeless Shelter (210 S. 455 W). Ten local radio stations will broadcast live from the shelter and encourage listeners to donate in-kind items or make financial contributions. We continue through December 21^st-24th to run as if the radio stations were here broadcasting live. Money and items donated during this event will go directly to the provide services to homeless men, women and families with children. Volunteers are needed to collect and sort donations both day of the Broadcast and from the 19^th-24th. Volunteer shifts are from 8am-8pm in two hour increments.

On December 19th and 20^th we are asking ALL volunteers under 12 years old to volunteer on the street. The street will be blocked off and there will be a lot of police presence. Volunteers 12 years and older we would love to have you sign up for the warehouse.

On December 21^st-24^th we will only have warehouse opportunity. Volunteers can be any age. We will suggest that anyone under 12 years old don’t usually have the attention span for the warehouse.
 Please remember to DRESS WARM!! Dress as if it is going to be a blizzard!

Teri Thompson writes, "We are looking for a serger or two to use at our activity in December. If you have one that you would be willing to bring (and help us use) please let me know."

Just a heads up.....

Our neighbor, Darrell Oswald writes, "Yesterday we had some of our neighbors notice that there were a group of boys in the neighborhood that didn’t seem right so they called the police. The police came and talked to them and found that they had been going around and stealing from garages and cars that were left open, and from sheds. The police had one of the boys go around with him and show him all the homes that were burglarized. One of our neighbors who had things stolen didn’t even know their garage had been open, and found he had tools and other things taken – fortunately, they were returned to him. Also I heard that in the last 4 days the police said that 8 cars were stolen from around the valley that people had started and left on to warm up while they went back in the house to get ready.  It is a good reminder that we need to be extra vigilant and watch what is going on in the neighborhood."

Light Up the Night - Our Fifth Annual Morningside Neighborhood Sub for Santa

Last year’s “Light Up the Night” was a huge success. Thanks to each of you and your generous donations, we were able to help 8 families in our neighborhood. We are excited to be planning this year’s “Light Up the Night” event, so we can help other families in our neighborhood. We hope that you have been filling up your jars to put towards this year’s sub for Santa event.

 Let’s join together on Monday, December 2nd 7:00-8:30 p.m. September Morning Circle Hot chocolate and desserts will be served around a crackling fire. Please extend this invitation to friends, family and neighbors. Donations can be made in the form of cash, or a Target or Walmart gift card.

Kristy Flanders is looking for a morning sitter for Savannah Tuesday – Friday. See information below.

"I’m going to start teaching a class from 7-10 am and am looking for someone to help watch Savannah while I’m gone.  She normally sleeps until 8 or 9 am, so I’d prefer to have someone come to the house from the time Jason leaves until I get back at 10:30. (Jason’s work schedule varies, so he could leave at 7, 8, or 9 am). She’s really easy to take care of, and I’d compensate for the time.  I'm starting the 27th. I even thought that if I found 2 people who came two days/week, it wouldn't be such a big commitment for one."

Neighborhood Children's Parade

Come and join us with your bikes, wagons, strollers etc; and decorate them however you like!

There will be a fire truck escort and a police car (our very own Mike Brimhall) bringing up the rear

The parade will end at the entrance to the park behind the Day’s house and we will have popsicles and visit with friends...

Purchase quantities of wheat for storage and/or daily use.

45 lb Super pail of Hard White Wheat  Cost $45.00.

Hard white wheat has a milder flavor than hard red wheat, but can be used the exact same way. It is a good food storage item because of its essential because of its versatility, and nutrients including protein, fiber and iron. It can be used for making baked breads, rolls, cereal, desserts, and as a meat extender and more.

Each SuperPail contains 42 lbs of Hard White Wheat packaged with an oxygen absorber in a sealed metalized food grade bag that has been placed inside a food grade plastic bucket with a gasket seal making it ideal for long-term storage

Children's Parade

Our Stake was given the assignment to participate in the Days of '47 Children Parade on July 20th.  After a full year of hard work....from design to fruition, the parade float was a big success.  There were also around 300 children from our Stake that participated!!

Rental Home?

Sister Anna Tupai may be relocating soon and would truly love to remain in this ward.   We love Anna and her sweet family and would like to try to help her find alternate accommodations that would allow them to remain part of our ward family.    If you could please keep your eyes open for any opportunities for homes to rent and let her know, she would appreciate it very much.  If you are aware of any homes that might be coming up for rent in the future she would be interested to know about those as well.

Thanks for your help.  Anna appreciates the closeness of this ward and the love that everyone has shown them.

Brynn Chatelain is here!

Brynn was born Saturday, June 15 at 3:00 am. She is 8 lbs 11 oz and 21 1/2 inches tall.

Karen and Brynn are both doing well. 

Brynn had an irregular heart beat and it was a little scary start to the world. After a blessing she has been doing well.

Relief Society Activity

What are your favorite things?  Bring a small gift, no more than $5 that represents your favorite things (to give away).

We would love to see you all this Thursday at 6:30 pm at Julie Henricksen's backyard for our Spring Social. Please invite your neighbors and sisters you visit teach. If you signed up to bring a salad or fruit please bring serving utensils with your food. Desserts will be provided.

And don't forget to bring your FAVORITE THING (one item $5 or less). We will be exchanging these items during the social. This can be anything that you just love...nail polish, scripture marker, treats, cooking utensil...whatever you would call a favorite of yours!

Sister Spotlight - Morgan Olson

My name is Morgan Olson and my family has lived in this ward my whole life.  I have four siblings and land right in the middle.  I graduated from Taylorsville High School and just received my Associates from Utah Valley University.  I love kids and currently nanny for my cousin and former drill coach.  Some things that I enjoy doing are watching movies, going to baseball games, and reading books.  I'm usually seen with my nose in a book or with my latest purchase from Barnes and Noble, which my family constantly tease me about because I am quickly running out of shelf space.  My family and I have been lucky enough to travel for my brother's baseball games and be able to see many different temples along the way.  As well as traveling for baseball, my family does our fair share of traveling within the states.  We spend the majority of the summers in Bear Lake and winters in St. George.  As much as I love traveling across the U.S., I would be just as happy spending my time up at the lake or down in St. George.  I love this church and the opportunity I have to teach in Primary.  Being able to see the amazing spirits the children in our ward have, strengthens my testimony each week.  The Lord has blessed me and helped me through so many things in my life that I can't imagine what else He has in store for me.  I know that as long as I have the gospel in my life I can take on anything.
