September 26th

SACRAMENT MEETING:
* Today is the last day to donate to the Friends of Scouting Program.  Please give donations to Roger Fuller (they're tax deductible).

* There is a 31+ fireside on October 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Stake Center.  Mike Ramsdell was born and raised in Bear River, Utah.  Upon graduation from Utah State University, he was commissioned an officer in the Military Intelligence Corps.  After post graduate studies at the University of Utah, he began his military active duty as a graduate from the Defense Language Institute (Russian and German) in Washington, D.C.

A Train to Potevka (a book he wrote) is a story of sacrifice, hope and second chances.  It is about love of family, home and country.  Most of all, it is a testimony to the basic goodness of man and the compassion and concern of a loving God.

* Sister Courtney Olsen was married this last week and we wish them the very best.

* October 10th, 5 p.m. - Rehersals for the Messiah practice begin (I believe these will be held at the Stake Center but I'm not sure)

* Trevor Hanks has been called on a mission to Honolulu, Hawaii and enters the MTC February 2nd.



Today our Primary did their annual Primary Program, "I know that my Savior lives".  They did a fabulous job and had most of us in tears throughout the meeting.  Here are a few picture of our fabulous Primary.

Germs in the Church Nursery and Other Scary Stories

“I can’t figure out why our children are always sick!” “These infections are costing us so much we are always broke.” “Mike can’t miss his high school classes, even if he is sick!” “A bishop can’t stay home just because of a little fever!”

These comments give us some important clues about how infectious illnesses spread. The Church is filled with hard-working, dedicated people who want to help others and fill their assignments, and who want their children to be at school and church. So these people often go out themselves and send their children out when they are sick.

Sometimes the problem is much greater than just not feeling very well. Why? Because sick people will almost certainly expose others to their germs and cause them to become ill.

It is not neglecting one’s duty to stay out of public when one has an infectious illness. Rather, it is a kindness. Counselors in presidencies and bishoprics and other willing people can fill in when someone is sick.

When should people stay home? When they have an infectious illness like strep, diarrhea, boils, ear infection, chicken pox, pneumonia, or skin infections such as impetigo, or when they have symptoms such as a fever, funny nose, sore throat, cough, or vomiting.

Children should especially be kept away from nurseries when they are ill. Disease spreads quickly when children play in close proximity and with the same toys. Out of consideration for leaders (who aren’t equipped to care for a sick child) and other children, parents should make other arrangements for the child’s care when he is ill.

As much as possible, parents would also be wise to keep family members with illnesses away from others in the family. The sick person should have his own linens and towels, and dishes he uses should be washed thoroughly. Though some germs will still spread through the air, a few precautions can lessen the chance of other family members becoming ill.

How long should sick people stay away from others? This varies with the illness, but it should be long enough for symptoms to disappear. A doctor can give recommendations on specific cases.

If everyone is more aware of how quickly diseases can spread and makes an effort to modify his or her behavior when he or she is sick, the amount of illness in the Church can be reduced. Fewer schooldays and workdays would be missed. Medical bills would be lower. People would suffer less. The way to accomplish this—in the long run—is for those with contagious illnesses to “stay home from church!”—Glen C. Griffin, M.D., Minneapolis, Minnesota

* Shannon Lovell shared that her daughter Lanae is expecting a baby boy.  She has three girls and is now adding a boy to the mix.  : )

* Kim Fuller shared that Arie is going to have a harp concert and has already reached a level well beyong her years. 

* Linda Clawson is enjoying her family from out-of-town.

* Lynette Rasmussen is getting her sixth grandchild.

Fabulous Friday Crafts and Information

Fabulous Friday is open to the Relief Society and Young Women this year. It will be held on October 22nd from 7 to 10 p.m.  We have many fun things planned and hope you will join us. In addition to the crafts below, we will have:

- An Artisan bread class

- Parenting class taught by Maggie Stevens
- Hand massage/paint nails
- Bring 5 / Take 5 : Bring up to five items that you are tired of and are considering getting rid of and take home up to five other items. Or you can just donate them and not take anything home...it's up to you!
- A service project
- Craft table with vinyl projects for purchase (like last year)
- Unfinished projects table. If you have other projects from home you'd like to just come and finish up, bring it and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors!
- Yummy treats!


Sign up sheets and additional information for the following crafts will be made available on September 26th. However, you can at least see what we have planned:

The price of this craft is only for the vinyl lettering. You would need to provide your own picture frame (either a 16x20 or an 11x14 frame).

EYE SPY BOTTLES - This craft is great for entertaining young children.  They look for different items placed inside the bottle.  This craft will be offered at no charge as long as you bring the objects you would like to place inside of the bottle  The bottle and rice will be provided.  You can bring as many or as few objects as you'd like but would suggest at least 15. If you go to the store and look at different buttons, there are soooo many cute ones.  Also, there are many small items probably around your house that would work just fine...just check your drawers and closets.  If you have any questions, please ask.



RECIPE/MESSAGE HOLDER 

Bryce Wengren and Jadon Barnhisel

Elder Bryce Wengren's has arrived home safely from Peru and addressed us in Sacrament Meeting today.  He did a wonderful job and shared many experiences from his mission.  Welcome home!!

Jadon Barnhisel was baptized a confirmed yesterday and invited to sit on the stand between Bishop Lago and President Wakefield. 

Announcements

Congratulations to Jamie & Austin Beckstead. They had their baby girl on Thursday, September 9th. Faith May was 6 lbs. 15 oz. and mom and baby are both doing well. Thanks to those who signed up to help with meals. Bobbie Ingram will be contacting you for specific days.

Choir will be starting up again this week, September 12 @ 2:00 pm at the Wyatt's home.

The General Relief Society Meeting will be broadcast on Saturday, September 25th @ 6:00 pm at the Stake Center. Dinner will be served at 4:30 pm prior to the broadcast. Please see sign-up sheets.

The Primary Program will be presented on September 26th. The Saturday practice will be on September 25th from 10:00-11:30 am followed by a pizza party. Please have your children wear Sunday Dress to the practice. Watch for their parts to come home...

Standards Night for the YW is this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Stake Center.  Parents and Young Women are invited to attend.  If you'd like to be in the choir, you need to arrive by 6:20 p.m.
